PitchMap helps you create multi-sampled instrument samples optimized for Koala Sampler's awesome Chopper feature. Upload a few notes from any instrument, and PitchMap will analyze their pitches, sort them chromatically, and fill in the missing notes by somewhat intelligently pitch-shifting their nearest neighbors — enabling you to turn your favorite synth, or acoustic gear into a playable instrument via Koala's internal or an external keyboard..

PitchMap has several algorithms trying to figure out what your sounds are and automatically chooses the one best suited. It works with quick attack transient sounds like pianos or your kitchen glassware, as well as pad sounds and other swelling instruments.

Sequence/Record: Upload or directly record a single audio file containing multiple notes played in any pitch and sequence. PitchMap will automatically choose its best suited algorithm to recognize your takes. Leave around 3 seconds of silence (the best you can do) at the start and end of your take and between notes.

ZIP File: Upload an archive of single shots. If they have note or MIDI values in their name, PitchMap will take these as the ground truth and build your output files based on that.

Please place a marker somewhere in the center of the pauses between played notes. The number of notes displayed left bottom of the waveform should reflect the number of notes played.

Root Key: The starting note for your instrument mapping. Use "Auto" to detect the lowest note in your samples, or set it manually if you know the root.

Scale: Determines which notes are included in the output. Chromatic includes all 12 semitones. Other scales (Major, Minor, Pentatonic, etc.) will only map to notes within that scale, creating a "locked-in" instrument that can't play wrong notes.

Note: Due to the limitation of Chopper maxing out equal chops at 16, PitchMap will map your scaled outputs to make most of it. Therefore, you would almost always use the grid in Koala to play and set your grid scale to CHROMATIC. Try it, it will click soon :)Koala Chromatic Layout

Give your instrument a custom name. This will be used in the output filename, making it easy to identify your samples later. Leave blank for an auto-generated name based on your settings.
